Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky (July 29, 1817 – May 5, 1900)

Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky was a Russian painter of Armenian descent and born in Feodosiya, Crimea to a poor Armenian family. Ivan Aivazovsky was most famous for his seascapes and these constitute more than half of his paintings, he painted a series of portraits of Crimean coastal towns before traveling.

In some of Ivan Aivazovsky paintings he signs the painting "Hovhannes Aivazian" which comes from his parents family name Aivazian.
